Celebration of Freedom: Pop-Up Festival Renfrewshire.

Africa in Motion is Scotland’s major annual celebration of African cinema, and is delighted to return for the 11th year to bring audiences in Edinburgh and Glasgow a wide variety of creative stories from across the African continent.

Supported by Regional Screen Scotland this year the festival is moving outside of the city centre, packing its mobile cinema and heading to Paisley. Through partnerships with Create Paisley and Pachedu, AiM has been able to work with the local community to support them in curating their own mini-festival.

The pop-up festival will screen a diverse film programme for everyone to enjoy. With a South African focus the day will start off by taking audiences to the Karoo desert with the animation Khumba; followed shortly after by the renowned classic Sarafina a South African musical bound to get everyone singing and dancing; to a documentary exploring the life of Freedom Fighter Ashley Kriel, ‘the Che Guevara’ of the Cape own Flats. All of this as well the chance to get involved in craft making, some

African storytelling and try a few African tasty treats throughout the day.All of the events are free to attend and will take place at Thomas Coats Memorial Church in Paisley on Saturday 29th of October 2016.
