Scorching Carnival Celebrations in Renfrew

Yesterday saw Renfrew Gala Day being celebrated by over 6000 local residents as the annual community event attracted young and old alike to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of music, dance, arts & crafts, fairground rides and much, much more.

Inspired by the host city of the 2016 Olympic Games, yesterday’s Carnival themed event was every bit as colourful, and beautifully warm and sunny, as the world-famous Rio procession.

Featuring feathered headdresses, sequins and over 500 participants from local community groups, the parade wound its way from Canal Street to Robertson Park to kick start the Gala Day party.

Gala Day has become Renfrew’s biggest and best free family day out and this year organisers were thrilled that the good weather encouraged so many local people to attend and enjoy the activities and entertainment on offer.
