All the Best David
David Longwell left his post as St Mirren’s Head of Youth Development last Thursday and jetted off to Florida today to take up his new post as Academy Director with Major League Soccer side Orlando City.
David leaves the Club after fifteen years service initially as a Community Coach and then going on to work his way up to the Academy overseeing the Club’s Youth Development Programme.
He leaves behind quite a legacy at St Mirren Football Club as he has set a fair number of youngsters on the road to the dream of a career in professional football, starting it all with St Mirren
It is perhaps fitting in the week that David goes to further his career that former St Mirren Academy players Kenny McLean and John McGinn have made their debuts for the full Scotland side and present St Mirren youngster Kyle McAllister is in the Scotland Under-17 squad that is presently taking part in the UEFA European Under-17 Championships Elite Round in the Czech Republic.
David was a tireless worker at the St Mirren FC Academy in Ralston which only recently he helped to maintain the position as the only club in Scotland to achieve Club Academy Scotland’s Gold Level. It was the third year in a row that the Buddies have received the award after satisfying the requirements of the Scottish Football Association.
As David jets off to a new adventure in the USA all at St Mirren Football Club would like to thank him for the tremendous work he put in during his time at the Club and to wish him the best of success with his new position in Orlando.
