Built as a memorial to Thomas Coats of the Paisley thread family, the beauty of the building speaks its own silent message. Cathedral-like with a crown steeple and given extra prominence by a wide and high flight of steps to the main door. Designed by Hippolyte Blanc (Scottish despite his French name) in Gothic style, cruciform in shape and with flying buttresses along the nave. Opened in May 1894, the church can seat 1,000 people.
