Post Match Quotes – Alex Rae (22/03/2016)
By Alan Gallacher at the Paisley 2021 Stadium
SAINTS manager Alex Rae bemoaned his team’s defending and slammed the performance of referee Barry Cook as he declared his team had been “mugged” by Raith in the 2-1 loss.
He said: “We gave away cheap, cheap goals, but I cannot remember them having a shot on goal after this. Being honest I feel a little mugged, it was much the same thing when we went there earlier in the season.
“It was always going to be difficult when you give away the type of goals we did.”
Rae was sent to the stand midway through the second half following an exchange with the officials and the manager managed to just about rein himself in when asked about the incident and the overall showing of Mr Cook. He said; “I had my say to him to be fair, I said what I wanted. Well, actually, if I said what I wanted to say I would be chucked out of football, it was that bad.
“We had this referee a few weeks back also, so what can we do? Listen, you guys saw it, you guys have an opinion and you can report it.”
Rovers manager Ray McKinnon was a far happier manager as this win all but ensured his team would be the fourth team involved in the promotion issue come May. He said: “Massive win. Not there yet, but it is a massive win and Saturday’s game against Morton is a huge game.
“It was a good performance, especially in the first half. Never felt under any danger until they started bombing it forward and feeding off scraps inside the box.”
