St Mirren continued their recent revival with a good strong performance against high-flying Falkirk on Tuesday evening as the sides battled out a scoreless draw in a Ladbrokes Championship match-up at the Paisley 2021 Stadium.
Saints had the better of the chances as Jordan Stewart fired a shot narrowly past the post and Lawrence Shankland lost out on a one-on-one with Falkirk keeper Danny Rogers.
Saints also looked to be denied a penalty-kick when David Clarkson was hauled down to the ground when looking to get on to the end of a cross from Keith Watson deep into the Falkirk penalty-area, but the referee waved play on.
Clarkson was also party to another controversial decision at the start of the second half as his goal strike from the edge of the box was disallowed as he was deemed to be offside in what looked a pretty tight decision.
Lawrence Shankland came close to opening the scoring a few minutes later as he looked to get on the end of a great pass across the face of goal from Jordan Stewart but a Falkirk defender slid in to clear the danger.
Craig Sibbald came close for the visitors when his shot rattled off Jamie Langfield’s crossbar but that was as close as either side got and both had to settle for a share of the points.
