Allan McManus – Head of Youth Development

Allan McManus – Head of Youth Development
Former Hearts, St Johnstone and Morton defender Allan McManus has been appointed as St Mirren’s Head of Youth Development.
Allan will take over next month from David Longwell who is heading to the USA to take up a youth development post with MLS side Orlando City.
A product of the Hearts youth set-up, Allan went on to make 54 appearances for the Tynecastle side before signing for Livingston in 1998. Three years and 91 appearances at Almondvale led to a short-term move to Alloa ahead of joining up with Airdrie United in the summer of 2001.
Spells with Ayr United and a return to Airdrie led to a move to St Johnstone in 2006. Two years later Allan signed up with local rivals Morton where he stayed till 2010 when he crossed the Erskine Bridge to Dumbarton before seeing his playing career out with Arbroath in 2010/11
A Paisley boy, Allan has been coaching at the St Mirren Academy since 2011 so he is already familiar with the set-up at Ralston as he picks up the reins from David and looks to build on and continue the good work in recent years.
