St Mirren defender Sean Kelly made his 100th appearance for St Mirren in Saturday’s 1-0 win against Dumbarton at the Paisley 2021 Stadium.
The 22-year-old is a graduate of St Mirren’s Academy and after a loan spell with East Stirlingshire, where he made 10 appearances over the first half of the 2012/13 season, he went on to make his St Mirren debut on 3rd August 2013, coming on as a substitute in a SPL match against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
The following weekend he made his first start for Saints in a SPL match-up with Aberdeen. And talking of first starts….
Kyle McAllister made his first start for the first XI on Saturday afternoon, following up from the 17-year-old’s debut from the subs’ bench in last week’s match against Queen of the South in Dumfries.
The match also saw the return to first team action for Jim Goodwin who has been sidelined with injury since the game against Hibernian on 7th November last year.
All-in-all a good day on Saturday with three points in the bag and further proof of the fruit being borne from the Academy with six players from the Academy being in the squad for the match.
Congratulations to Sean on hitting the 100 landmark and to Kyle on his first start for the side, hopefully we’ll see them put in many more appearances in the black and white stripes of St Mirren.
