Gallery: Queen of the South v St Mirren

Saints lost out in a tight encounter on Saturday afternoon as they went down 1-0 to Queen of the South in a Ladbrokes Championship match-up at Palmerston Park.

After a goalless first half Saints looked to have a penalty-kick award when Stephen Mallan was brought down in the Queen of the South penalty-area, but referee Barry Cook played advantage which came to nothing.

On 65 minutes the home side took the lead as Andy Murdoch’s cross found its way to Alex Harris who volleyed the ball past Jamie Langfield from the edge of the box to open the scoring.

St Mirren manager Alex Rae brought on 17-year-old Kyle McAllister for his first team debut to replace Calum Gallagher and veteran striker Steven Thompson to take over from Alex Cooper, and while they brought something new to the attack the game got away from Saints as the Doonhamers hung on for the win.

Official Website photographer, Allan Picken was at Palmerston Park to capture all the action.
