Development League: St Mirren 2-1 Dundee United

The St Mirren U20 side won their fifth game in the last six SPFL Development League outings on Tuesday afternoon as they ran out 2-1 winners against Dundee United at New Western Park.

Saints took the lead just past the half hour mark. Jassem Sukar was deemed to have handled Jaison McGrath’s shot at goal, referee Stephen Brown awarded a penalty-kick to Saints which was taken by Alan Gow who placed the ball past United keeper Joe McGovern to open the scoring.

The young Saints held Dundee United at bay for most of the second half and extended their lead midway through the half when Jordan Stewart’s cross found its way to Conor O’Keefe who coolly slipped the ball past McGovern.

With two minutes remaining United were awarded a spot-kick which was converted by Justin Johnson, but it was too little too late for the Tannadice side as Saints held on for the win.

The win sees Saints hold 3rd place on the SPFL Development League table with 40 points.
