Loan Signing: David Clarkson

St Mirren ParkSt Mirren have signed Motherwell striker David Clarkson on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old started football life with the Fir Park side making 219 league appearances for Motherwell and 2 appearances for Scotland before signing for Bristol City in 2009. After three seasons at Ashton Gate (which included a loan spell with Brentford), he jumped to the other side of the city to sign for Bristol Rovers which at the time was managed by Mark McGhee.

The striker moved back north of the border at the beginning of last season to sign up with Dundee where he made 25 appearances before moving back to Motherwell last summer.

David, who has made 8 appearances for the Steel Men this season, has been assigned squad number 24.

The striker said to St Mirren Radio on signing on loan for Saints, “I’m ready, I’ve been fit all season and I’m as fit as I’ve ever been. I’ve been playing games, playing for the 20s and I like to keep my match fitness up. I’ve been training hard and making sure that when my time came, wherever it may be, that I was ready and match fit and hopefully up to speed with everyone else really.

“I’m looking forward to getting started. Obviously the game on Saturday, every game is a big game, and the more games we can win the more confidence we can get from that we can hopefully go on a run of games and push up the table and try to get the club back to where it has been.”
