Gavin Newlands, the MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, has finalised plans for his thirteenth and final constituency surgery – announcing that he will hold a monthly surgery specifically aimed at supporting carers in Renfrewshire Carers Centre.

Gavin Newlands MP unveiled his schedule of constituency surgeries in August and, after meeting with Diane Goodman and Christine Melville from Renfrewshire Carers Centre, the local MP is pleased to announce that a surgery will be held at the carers centre in Paisley to support Renfrewshire’s carers.

The carers surgery will take place at Renfrewshire Carers Centre (Unit 55, Embroidery Mill, Abbey Mill Business Centre, Paisley, PA1 1TJ)  on the last Friday of each month.

Gavin Newlands, the MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, said:

“I am delighted to be able to announce that I will be holding a constituency surgery, specifically to support our carers and those they care for, on the last Friday of each month at Renfrewshire Carers Centre in Paisley.

“My constituency office has a great deal of experience of dealing with issues important to carers and championing their rights, and I hope to utilise this to offer vital help and support to Renfrewshire’s carers.

“It is important that as policy-makers we must endeavour to do all that we possibly can do defend and extend the rights and well-being of our carers and their loved ones. I hope these carers surgeries, alongside the existing experience of my staff, can gain me a greater understanding and appreciation of the issues that carers face in their day-to-day lives.

“I’d also like to thank Renfrewshire Carers Centre for facilitating our carers surgery.”

Christine Melville, Development Manager at Renfrewshire Carers Centre, said:

“This is a welcomed opportunity for carers to voice their concerns and receive support to address their issues. We are looking forward to working with Gavin and his team”
