High school pupils in Renfrewshire now have access to a new online learning tool.

Britannica schools, which gives pupils access to journals, e-books, encyclopaedia articles and educational videos, is now available to all secondary school students.

Pupils are able to access the website from any device, whether they are using a laptop, pc, tablet or phone. All they need is a username and password supplied by their school librarian.

Students can personalise their experience by creating their own research area as well as amending reading ages to suit.

The Britannica Schools is an expansion to the popular Britannica Online Libraries resource, which has been available in Renfrewshire Council’s libraries since 2001.

Councillor Stuart Clark, Depute Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Sport, Leisure and Culture Policy Board, said: “We are ambitious for our children’s future and supporting them to achieve good grades in school is just one of the ways we are achieving this vision.

“Our secondary pupils have a strong track record of attaining good exam results as well as developing their knowledge and skills and we want to continue to improve this.

“Britannica Schools is a fantastic modern learning tool that can help our children expand on their education. It’s simple to use and easy to access no matter what device they use.”

“The advice is: get online and make use of this great resource.”

Parents and pupils can find out more at www.renfrewshirelibraries.co.uk by clicking on the Britannica School link on the Children and Young People pages.

Renfrewshire residents can also benefit by accessing Britannica Online at all Renfrewshire Libraries.
