ECS Acquires Tinto Laser Services

The South Yorkshire based company acquired Tinto – which became insolvent in early 2014 – for an undisclosed fee, and has re-employed the staff, thus bringing back this well respected laser toner cartridge manufacturer from the brink.

Misterton, South Yorkshire, UK.  19th March 2014.– Effective Consumable Solutions (ECS), the independent distributor of copier and printer consumables throughout the UK and Europe, has today announced that it has acquired Tinto Laser Services the highly respected manufacturer of laser printer cartridges in Europe, which had become insolvent in January. The seventeen highly qualified Tinto Laser Services employees that have been out of work for nearly two months since being made redundant due to the company’s insolvency will be reinstated into their former positions as part of the takeover.

buildingThe Tinto Laser Services team, which has over one hundred and fifty years combined experience in the toner cartridge manufacturing business, was paramount in seeing the company being labeled as one of Europe’s most respected laser toner remanufacturers, with the company’s outstanding quality control being a vital element in its former success.

As part of the takeover agreement, ECS has also secured the recycling division GreenAgenda Ltd which operates one of the largest toner cartridge and mobile phone recycling schemes in the UK. ECS will affirm that Tinto Laser Services remains at its current location at 1-3 Sandpiper Way, Strathclyde Business Park, Bellshill, near Glasgow.

“The acquisition of Tinto Laser Services demonstrates our willingness to invest in businesses that can help fuel profitable growth and extend our strategy,” said Chris Fink, co-founder and MD, ECS. “With the right strategy, great execution, continued innovation and a clear commitment to the laser printer manufacturing industry, we are confident that we can not only ensure Tinto Laser Services gets back on its feet, but grow this business successfully for the long-term and ensure it once again is at the forefront of the laser cartridge remanufacturing industry. ECS has a proven record of innovation and transformation, which has enabled us to create strategies that are highly valued by our clients and partners both in the UK and throughout Europe. We welcome the Tinto Laser Services employees into our family with open arms and hope to give them the necessary platform and tools needed to continue to excel.”

image001 “Since Chris and I founded ECS, we had a distinct vision in place and had developed a set of goals that would guide us to achieve that vision. Our main vision was our people. ECS and its subsidiaries would be a great place to work, where people are inspired to be the best they can be. When we heard that the staff at Tinto had lost their jobs and the company had gone under, we needed to act, not only to save the name of this once great company, but to save the jobs of the people that had created that reputable name,” said Felicity Rabbitte, co-founder and CEO, ECS. “The Tinto Laser Services team now has the full backing of the ECS family and we are happy to have them on board. Together, we can ensure that we will steer Tinto back to the top, where it once was.”

Founded in 2009 by Chris Fink and Felicity Rabbitte, ECS has progressed sales and distribution in the UK and Europe and is an independent distributor of copier and printer consumables. Being a leading-edge innovator in the marketplace, ECS pioneered the process of Closed-Loop recycling in the toner and ink cartridge industry which empowers its clients to meet their corporate responsibility commitments.
