Causeyside Street Improvements

Ok so this week will see some major disruption to the traffic and pedestrians around the new streetscape that has been underway upgrading Causeyside Street. Widening pavements and removing all the barriers and other street furniture not only looks fantastic but will also give a much better impression to visitors to the town. Disabled users have more freedom now that all the pavements are sloped at crossings to make it much easier for them.

The shops on Causeyside Street are an eclectic bunch and have some excellent merchandise, including the last remaining record store in the centre of town. This area should now start to recover from the work that has been going on over the years which has been hampering trade for these businesses.

The resurfacing of the badly potholed road and Canal Street/Causeyside Street junction is well overdue and thankfully this is now being done..

Will it make a difference? Well it certainly is a great start and something to build on, we have to play our part now by keeping it litter free and of course taking the time to go into the local shops, pop in and see what they have in stock. Case Bebe for instance is a gem of a shop if you have younger ones or looking for that special present for an expectant mum…

We keep hearing you say nothing is being done, well you can’t say that now! Hopefully they will continue with the same level of workmanship all over the town and this, along with investment, will get more shops to set up in Paisley… it should be encouraged and if the council don’t keep up the pace of upgrades and renovation we will pressure them along with you, the community.
