Renfrew Association of Growers and Gardeners

Can you help us make our dreams come true?

Renfrew Association of Growers and Gardeners (RAGG) is a new community group, which has received Big Lottery funding to create a community garden in Broadloan, Renfrew. Not a traditional allotment project, the intention is to create a community owned and controlled space which offers opportunities for all, regardless of ability, skill, income and will provide support to allow the less able to participate.

Renfrew Association of Growers and Gardeners A small group of volunteers has been working together to develop the concept and have now reached the stage where the building contract is out to tender and work is expected to start ‘on the ground’ soon.

A team of consultants has been commissioned to help with the training and development of the organisation, marketing and promotion of the garden, creation of systems and procedures for its long-term management.

However, the workload involved is quite considerable for this small group of volunteers. They are keen, therefore, to attract assistance over the next few months from a few experienced individuals who can contribute some time and energy to realising the plans to create a truly inclusive community asset.

RAGG is currently seeking volunteers to help in a number of ways:

  • To join the Steering Group and assist with the development of the organisation and realisation of its goals – this would suit anyone who has some committee experience and some skills in leadership and management of community projects and has a few hours to spare every month.

Note: you need not live in Renfrew to help in this way.

  • To become a volunteer and take part in the many activities required to support and maintain the garden – the opportunities range from horticulture and general garden maintenance (training will be provided) to assisting less able folk to providing web and social media support.

Note: volunteers must be Renfrew residents

Please like us and send a message on Facebook or email info@gardenofdreams.org.uk and we will contact you to discuss this further.
