Roadshows take winter readiness message to Renfrewshire

Renfrewshire residents who want to prepare for winter can get the information they need when out shopping this week

The Scottish Government’s Winter Resilience Roadshow will visit Asda Linwood on Thursday 10 November and Sainbury’s Braehead on Friday 11 November.

Advisers from the Scottish Government will be on hand to speak to the public about preparing for winter in their home, their car or their community. They will be distributing wallet cards and magnets which highlight where people can get more information.

From Renfrewshire Council, wardens, environmental services staff and roads staff will be available to let residents know more about what is being done locally to prepare for and cope with severe weather conditions this winter.

The Scottish Government team will be there from 9am-5pm each day, with Renfrewshire Council staff available from 2pm – 4pm.

Cllr Marie McGurk, convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Environment and Infrastructure Policy Board, said: “Our Ready for Winter campaign is getting the message out there that everyone needs to start thinking now about how they’ll cope if the weather worsens.”

“Supermarkets are one of the best places to engage with large groups of people so we welcome the opportunity to join the Scottish Government in these roadshows.”

“I’d urge anyone shopping on these days to stop by and find out more.”
