SUMMERFEST! 2011

PACE Theatre Company has announced that the UKs biggest summer performing arts festival for young people will be launched this Saturday 28th May @ 10am at their Spires Drama Studios in Schooly Wynd.

This year’s SummerFest! has something for everyone . As well as music, dance, comedy and dramas there are exciting adaptations of productions like, “Comedy of Errors” and “Charlotte’s Web”, musical events including “Evita” and “Matilda” and the sure to be popular hilarious comedyfest’s “Pirates and My Auntie Jean” and “Jeremy Kyle : The Opera”! There will be performances every week in The Wynd Centre Auditorium, and Paisley Arts Centre as well as in diverse venues such as the Lagoon Leisure Centre, Braehead Shopping Centre, Eastwood theatre, Kyle Theatre in Ayr and the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen.

David Wallace, PACE’s Executive Director said, “This is by far the most exciting summer festival we have ever had. There are over 40 performances in just 6 weeks, which will be seen by over 5,000 people. What is unique about this Arts festival however is that every performance will be by young people and anyone can take part.”

Mhairi Gilbert, PACE’s Artistic Director who will be premiering her new work ‘Avalon’ said, “SummerFest gives thousands of young people the opportunity to take part in arts projects which will not only teach valuable skills like confidence and communication, and will also make sure that this summer is one they will never forget.”

All the events have been devised to guarantee an enjoyable, creative and memorable experience for those who take part. Events are open to PACE members and non-members. Performances are also open to everyone to enjoy whether you are participating or just want to see a great performance!
