– Five Flights per Week in Autumn 2010 and Spring 2011

Icelandair is pleased to announce increased service from Manchester and Glasgow to Iceland and Icelandair’s connecting North American destinations. The increased service will run from 14th September to 26th October 2010 and 12th April to 6th June 2011 and adds one flight per week, on Tuesday, to the current autumn schedule from both Manchester and Glasgow. The increased service will result in five flights per week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Flights will operate as a “triangle route” using the following routing: Reykjavik (KEF) – Manchester (MAN) – Glasgow (GLA) – Reykjavik (KEF). The schedule fits into Icelandair’s “hub and spoke” system, allowing passengers to connect onwards to Icelandair’s North American destinations. The connection times to North America are short, resulting in elapsed flying times comparable or better than the competition.

Flight departs Reykjavik at 08:00, arriving Manchester at 11:35. Flight departs Manchester at 12:25, arriving Glasgow at 13:30. Flight departs Glasgow at 14:20, arriving Reykjavik at 15:40. These times allow for short and convenient connections to/from Icelandair’s destinations in the United States and Canada.

Hjörvar Sæberg Högnason, General Manager UK & Ireland, said, “We are pleased to expand our service from Manchester and Glasgow to Iceland and our North American destinations this autumn and next spring, two great times to visit Iceland, especially for those looking to save. This will provide our passengers with increased convenience and flexibility to travel to Iceland to take advantage of the favourable exchange rate, plus increase the options for connecting onwards to fantastic destinations like New York City, Boston, Seattle and more.”

Icelandair is one of Iceland’s longest established companies, connecting the world and Iceland for over 70 years. Icelandair flies from the UK to Iceland with connecting service to Boston, Halifax, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York City, Orlando, Seattle and Toronto.
